The main steps to Publishing with WordPress:

1. Buy a NAME for your website or blog. You can buy the name at many domain name resellers. Or, you can use a name connected to WordPress.com at no charge.

2. Buy HOSTING to put your website or blog on the internet. $6/month is a common price. If you cannot justify that right now, then you can use the hosting at WordPress.com at no charge.

3. INSTALL WordPress on your own system. This is if you want to have complete control over your content and your advertising and your promotion. You can have everything managed and controlled by WordPress at no cost, but if you want control you should have your services under your own control.

4. CLEAN UP your website. When you install WordPress, it comes with a default template that will not express your own individual preferences, and your own audience that you want to connect with.

5. CUSTOMIZE: Adjust the appearance and format of your website.

6. Add CONTENT. You can write your own text material, or you can use works written by others if you give them credit. Add information with text and graphics and audio and video that your audience will want.

7. Add an "ABOUT PAGE", telling your audience about yourself, your business, your interests, and how to contact you.

8. AUTOMATE your website updates and services with Plug-Ins. These allow you to schedule automatic posting of content on your website, automatically change the layout and organization of the different parts, and make the system serve you so that you can be more efficient.

9. TAKE ACTION, and GET RESULTS (even make money)from your website. When you put advertising or links to products that others sell on your website, you can get paid any time that someone goes to those advertisers.
This may not be important to you right now, but the same idea applies if you want visitors to give you comments, or you want them to contribute to a charity, or you want them to take action on some project that you recommend.

10. COMMIT TO LEARNING more about WordPress and online communication. You may be experienced at sending out emails to large lists of contacts. With WordPress you can build an online community of people who interact with you and with each other.
You can provide the service of helping visitors to become passionate about one of your own products or services.
You can easily become a valuable PARTNER to other businesses who need to develop an online presence, and you can become a consultant and advisor to them.
